Embossing Ribbon

Today's tip is how to emboss ribbon. It works well with Stampin' Up!'s Seam Binding or Taffeta ribbon. In the picture below I used seam binding.

Here's a picture of a card I made with it using the Paper Pumpkin supplies:

and the ribbon detail:

In this picture I used the embossing folder Perfect Polka Dots (117335).

And this card with several different embossed ribbons:

Procedure:

  1. On Craft Sheet, spray ribbon with Stiffen Stuff or Best Press until wet.
  2. Let dry ~ 1 hour.  With tweezers dry with heat tool. If you are using Best Press, you can iron it with a pressing cloth. If you are using Stiffen Stuff, you can use the microwave (carefully). Do not use an iron with Stiffen Stuff - what a mess! (Ask me how I know that!)
  3.  Put ribbon inside embossing folder and emboss with Big Shot or Texture machine
NOTE: I found that the Stiffen Stuff made the ribbon stiffer and a little darker. Best Press kept the ribbon’s texture and color, but may not hold the embossing as well.
