Lots of Lavender

Hi!
I have a confession to make - when I made my first card with this new stamp set, I couldn't figure out what all the little flower petals were on the top right and left of the stamp set. So I stamped all of them on my card. NOW I know they are actually leaves for the small rose.
I think they can be used to add texture to the lavender blooms on the larger bouquet.

I made it in two colorways. After all, lavender comes in pink, purple and white.

For more details on how to do my little trick - watch this video:

You Move Me!

The Annual catalog has a LOT of stamps that can be used for Valentines. I think there's more than 30. Here's one of my favorites.

I finally figured out the trick to making this card! Stamp the butterflies carefully in two contrasting colors. I used Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette. Make sure you line them up so you can see each color individually through the grate. The center line should not overlap.

The little circle die is for the tab. If you pull the inner note carefully and slowly you can see the butterfly flutter!

Heartfelt Blooms

I'm loving the new Heartfelt Blooms stamp set. It features a new patented technique that lays down the ink at different opacities, giving the image more depth. Of course, I had to make a Shabby Chic version.

I stamped the flowers in Crumb Cake, then just used watercolor pencils and water to color the daisies and a few leaves. I sponged around the card also in Crumb Cake. Be sure and leave a little light around the flowers so it will glow a little. I put a pearl on the little spot on the pink flower where there is a tiny leaf.

This stamp is available FREE with a $50 purchase.

Organization II

Do you organize your crafting supplies? Do you sometimes buy something you already have? We've all done this. I now keep a list on Evernote. It's an app that I can use in both my personal computer and my phone. I keep separate file folders for:

  • Stamps
  • Dies
  • Paint (like embossing paste)
  • Embossing Folders
  • Punches
  • Stencils
  • Sequins (yes!)
  • Techniques and Tutorials
Each item I purchase gets a new note in one of the folders. I number them, tag them and add a photo.
For instance, I just bought the Barn Door bundle.

In the stamping folder I made a new note:
  • 978 SU Barn Door <- title of note, "SU" means Stampin' Up!
  • 2018 Occasions 145865 <- catalog and number
  • MATCHING DIE D234 SU Sliding Door <- note that it has a matching die and the Evernote number for it.
  • (picture goes here, cut and pasted from the web)
  • hello  <- I then type in a list of all the words and sentiments so I can search on them.I'm so happy to know you
  • may your troubles be less and your blessings be more
  • and nothing but happiness come through your door

And for tags, I put items that help me search on the pictures or sentiments. For this note, I put in "barn", "wreath", "door", "hello". For others I might put in "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations" or "Valentine".

I hope this helps get your 2018 in order!

Happy New Year!

Hi! Let's talk organization!

This month I thought I would share some of my hints on organizing your craft area. I found a neat little tool this week! It is a great little item that you can put on your craft table and put your most used tools.

Here's one place you can find it: It's Sew Emma or Fat Quarter Shop
